Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs) regulate coolant temperature, pressure, and flow while isolating the facility water loop from the IT cooling loop. They are a key component of direct liquid cooling systems, enabling efficient thermal management and precise temperature control for high-density AI servers.
CDU technology enables efficient thermal management for today’s high-density AI servers, removing heat from CPUs and GPUs without compromising performance. SWEP BPHEs are compatible with the fluids commonly used in CDUs, including water, monopropylene glycol (MPG) mixtures, and dielectric fluids. The SWEP All-Stainless range, which offers exceptional corrosion resistance, is recommended for use with deionized water.
The compact SWEP B224 and SWEP B327 are SWEPs new, highly efficient units designed for demanding single-phase applications, including Data Center Cooling and District Heating. Both feature large ports that enable high flow rates and delivers outstanding thermal and hydraulic performance and extreme efficiency with low pressure drop.
In-rack CDUs provide localized cooling for individual racks or small clusters of high-density AI servers. In-Row CDUs can deliver significantly more cooling capacity and can manage high heat loads across a series of server chassis. They can be integrated into the existing cooling infrastructure or be fully self-contained.
Channel plate packages are available in different configurations. In a 2-pass execution, the flow travels the length of the plate twice, delivering double the thermal performance, while maintaining the same footprint. This configuration is ideal for applications such as CDUs, which require a compact solution.
Coolant distribution units (CDUs) enable efficient cooling to a precise temperature. Several units from SWEP’s B-range, including the BX4T, B10T, B16, B80, B85, B220, B320, B427, and B649 are well-suited for single-phase heat exchange and evaporator duties in CDUs.
SWEP components are designed to boost the efficiency and operation of the entire system where they operate. We offer a complete range of BPHE optimized for use in CDUs.
SWEP brazed plate heat exchangers are ultra-compact, making them a perfect fit for Row or Rack CDUs. Our 2-Pass flow pattern heat exchangers maximize thermal performance while minimizing space requirements, giving CDU manufacturers greater design flexibility for high-density AI cooling systems.
To further enhance the efficiency and performance of our Liquid-to-Liquid Brazed & Fusion-Bonded Plate Heat Exchangers, SWEP has added propylene and ethylene glycol as valid fluids for a range of models designed for data center cooling, district heating, district cooling and other demanding HVAC applications. Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) certification is a globally recognized program that ensures products perform according to manufacturers’ published claims.
