Business engineer, Tulsa, USA

With SWEP: 2 years

The best thing about SWEP is the people. I do not have a technical background, so I have had to push myself. But thanks to the coaching and support from my colleagues, my skills and confidence has grown. Success depends on all of us doing our part, and we are all on the same page. Our managers never ask us to do something that they would not do themselves. They take the time to explain the why and how, not just hand over the answers. It cultivates a healthy business where people want to stay. Communication is central to this. It is open and clear – not just in Tulsa, but with our people in Sweden, too. I also value our global townhall meetings. They keep us in the loop on what is happening and what matters.

Work-life balance is encouraged. I started fully remote but now go into the office two or three times a week. Working from home sometimes means I work later, but not often. Other jobs used to define who I was. Now, I can just be myself.

Mandar Rajwade

With SWEP: 12 years

I love the possibilities that SWEP offers. Development is truly encouraged here. I joined in 2013 as a Business Engineer, and today I’m in a hybrid role. I have had open conversations with my managers about my interests and career goals, which has allowed me to explore new areas – moving from technical support to sales.

The leadership at SWEP genuinely cares – not only about our well-being and safety, but also about our growth. At the same time, it is up to you as an individual to take ownership of your path and make the most of it. And you can go global. One of my colleagues worked in the Northern region of India, then transferred to the US as Key Account Manager. Now he is a Strategic Account Manager. It is really inspiring.

In India we say “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” which means One Earth, One Family. I can see it at at SWEP. It does not matter where you are based – we are all part of a shared culture. I can reach out to my colleagues at any time and get a quick, helpful response. We are here to support each other. Visiting offices in China, Malaysia and Europe has been a great experience, it shows how well we work together, and how easy it is to share a laugh along the way.

Delvin Nicholson

Continous improver, Tulsa, USA

With SWEP: 21 years

I actually left SWEP and joined another company for nine months – but when the opportunity to return came along, I took it.

My 21 years here has been a journey of growth. I started as an operator, became the team lead of XL, Interim production supervisor, and have worked in every department. Now, as a Continuous Improver, I am out on the production floor – even when I am at my desk – always looking for ways to make our daily work better. I love it!

My work ethic and ability to see both sides of a challenge have definitely been recognized. At SWEP, what you put in is what you get out. There really is no limit to how far you can go within the company – the only object that could stop you is you. The comradery within SWEP drives me to keep going.

Looking ahead, I see myself becoming a Supervisor or Manager of a Continuous Improver team. I recently completed both Green Belt and Leadership training. What is great is that SWEP invests in us – not only by offering development programs, but by pushing us to apply and share what we have learned. After all, knowledge that is not used is easily lost.

With SWEP: 4 years

I joined SWEP as a Business Engineer. After a few months focusing primarily on regional customers, I was pulled into some of our large global accounts. Connecting with colleagues around the world became a crash course in our business, culture and customer expectations. As I got involved in more side projects, I began receiving recurring sustainability questions from customers. I realized SWEP needed a formalized strategy and process – not just for environmental matters but for sustainability in a broader context. I identified key gaps, outlined actions and proposed a part-time role to coordinate the work and our sustainability report. I presented the idea to the management team in May 2022. As a result, a new role was created for me, which officially began in September 2022.

My journey reflects SWEP’s culture – if you have an idea and are willing to go the extra mile, you will be given the opportunity and support to make it happen. It does not matter who comes up with the idea, and you do not to a specific degree to have your voice heard. If the idea is good, it gets backed. Take the launch of CO2-reduced steel, for example. The idea of adding it to our range originally came from one person. I like that SWEP is an engineering company with an entrepreneurial mindset – and that we actively work sustainability into every aspect of our operations.

With SWEP: 9 years

Nine years sort of says it all – and I am not even the most senior member of my department!

R&D at SWEP has been my base for almost my entire adult life. Over these nine years, my job and I have simply evolved. Promotions, titles and roles aside, I have always been driven by making a difference. My expertise is thermic performance, which I hold a doctorate in.

At work, I define the key design parameters at the first stage of a new product and ensure that customers’ calculations add up. This is hardcore SWEP – challenging efficiency. We do not necessarily run by the book. Instead, we do what it takes.

I enjoy connecting and cross-referencing segments, products and know-how. Because R&D at SWEP is innovative yet super practical. We are deeply involved in the work of the sales and market teams, with a clear purpose to break new into sustainable business together.
