Decarbonization

For a cleaner economy

According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), fossil fuels are the largest contributors to global climate change, responsible for 75 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions, including 90 percent of all CO2. Most of these emissions are generated by burning fossil fuels to create electricity and heat. With the hope of averting the most severe consequences of climate change, EU countries have committed to the project of decarbonizing their economies in an attempt to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.

Innovative solutions

With a broad range of heat exchangers for all types of applications, SWEP brazed plate heat exchangers (BPHE) will continue to play a vital role in the transition to a fossil-free economy. SWEP will continue to work with industry partners to develop innovative solutions for high-efficiency heat upgrade systems fed by renewable energy sources and waste heat recovery.

The European Green Deal

Investing in renewable, clean energy systems, featuring SWEP heat technology, is key to the EU’s drive to establish energy independence. Renewable energy – solar, wind, hydro, biogas – can be produced and consumed entirely in the EU.

Current goals for decarbonizing the EU economy include:

  • Establishing independence from energy imports
  • Reducing fossil fuel consumption
  • Supporting the development of renewable energy
  • Increasing energy efficiency
  • Improving energy infrastructure and supporting integration across the EU
