Most perishable products require a narrow temperature window that must be tightly maintained. Moving perishable goods, whether food, pharmaceuticals, or other sensitive items, requires consistent cooling throughout the entire system and reliability from point of origin to destination. In marine containers or truck-and-trailer systems, which frequently have an operating envelope ranging from +7 °C to -24 °C, that can be a challenge.
SWEP Brazed plate heat exchangers increase the efficiency and reliability of transport refrigeration systems. They are designed and approved for use with a wide variety of refrigerants that are common in these applications, including R513a, R744 and R290.
The commercial refrigeration industry was one of the first to adapt natural refrigerants. CO2 (R744) and propane (R290) are now widely adopted in freezers and refrigerators in supermarkets. Both provide high efficiency, with low GWP values, making them excellent long-term alternatives to synthetic refrigerants.
While adding a component may slightly increase the complexity of the circuit, this complexity is more than outweighed by improved efficiency throughout the system, including reduced energy consumption and lower OPEX.
